The Aranha Association is a team of great professionals and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts led by Master Yan Cabral. Today, the association is growing all over the world, becoming the meeting place for all lovers and practitioners of BJJ and other martial arts.

Learn about some of these arts below.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
(BJJ)

Jiu Jitsu was started about 2,500 years ago by Buddhist monks. As fragile nomads, they were often mistreated by others because of their religion. They couldn’t use weapons, so they developed a form of self-defense based on the study of animal movements. The main force is leverage, which allows a much weaker individual to overcome a stronger and heavier opponent. This fighting style traveled quickly through Asia before reaching Japan, where it became a fighting style for samurai warriors who had the job of defending their elders with their lives if necessary. Jiu Jitsu stood out for its characteristics of balance and flexibility to overcome brute force.

Mixed Martial Arts
(MMA)

Mixed Martial Arts or MMA is a fighting style that combines a large number of fighting styles into a full-contact sport with few restrictions regarding rules. These include punches, kicks, throws, and ground fighting. The latter also allows punching and kicking, which is the main difference from other full-contact sports.
Punching and kicking techniques originate mainly from Taekwondo, Muay Thai, boxing, kickboxing, and karate. Grappling and ground fighting techniques have been adopted mainly from judo, wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and sambo.

Kickboxing

Kickboxing is a dynamic, competition-oriented martial art that has evolved from a combination of effective combat techniques from various martial arts such as boxing and Far Eastern kicking techniques, especially Tae Kwon Do. It can be learned quickly.

This sport can be practiced by anyone. In kickboxing, punching and kicking techniques are cushioned with boxing gloves, shin guards, and also head protection, so you can fight without injury.

Kickboxing is, therefore, a competitive sport and an effective form of self-defense. However, kickboxing can also be practiced just as a pure fitness sport, as it requires and promotes good fitness, agility, speed, and reaction.

Muay Thai / Kickboxing / K1

Muay Thai is a competitive sport that offers a realistic form of self-defense and a great fitness program. Especially the use of knee and elbow techniques allows women to successfully defend themselves against an attacker.
The number of Muay Thai enthusiasts has increased considerably in the last 20 years. This can be seen especially in grassroots sports, where participation in competitions is not the main focus. For many active athletes, Muay Thai is a great sport to stay in shape or to learn realistic self-defense. For this reason, Muay Thai is also increasingly frequented by women who do not participate in competitions.

Growing up strong and with values is a game

Since its foundation, the Aranha Association has been committed to creating a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school accessible to young people.

As it is a very complete and versatile sport, where height and weight are not limited, any child can train with us from the age of 4.
We primarily propose an introduction to the activity through educational games, which allow for better motor coordination and better body management in space.

The technical and motor complexity of this activity is much easier for children to overcome. They will see how they gain strength, agility, control, concentration, and self-esteem while playing.

Our children’s program includes beginner techniques such as basic coordination exercises, interactive games, and the exploration of character-building concepts and ideas in a playful environment.

ARANHA JUNIOR

Dealing with defeats and victories, increasing confidence

Children will achieve personal fulfillment by learning new techniques, changing belts, and winning competitions. Winning in life or in BJJ doesn’t mean hurting or stepping on anyone; you don’t always win, and you even learn from defeats. In a championship, victory or defeat will be lessons where your children learn that winning or losing is part of sports and life, where the most important thing is always doing what you love.

Awareness of discipline, hierarchy, and respect

BJJ demands respect. Asking permission when entering and leaving the mat, following the master’s instructions, and learning about hierarchy will give the child a different view of the world. The child’s behavior certainly changes. They will know where they can run, where they can’t, when they should be quiet, and they will respect their elders, parents, and teachers, adding these values to all life situations.

BJJ is integration, there is room for everyone

It’s impossible to do BJJ and not socialize; naturally, with the practice of the sport, many friendships arise on the mat. Qualities such as cooperation, partnership, and friendship are developed by learning this art—it’s inevitable!

Quality of life and physical well-being

Jiu Jitsu is a physical activity and, as seen in previous articles, it works not only the body but also the mind. And as we all know, a healthy mind means a healthy body! Jiu Jitsu will act as a preventive action against diseases, accelerating your metabolism and also contributing to greater power of concentration.

Concentration

Jiu Jitsu classes for children aim to improve concentration, provide self-esteem, discipline, and health. The practice of children’s Jiu Jitsu goes far beyond learning on the mat; the discipline and excellence required reflect positively on the child’s behavior at home and at school.
